It is a good idea to save your work on a regular basis as you proceed. Specify the location on your computer where you would like to save the plan. To do this: Select File> Save from the menu to open the Save Plan File dialog. You should begin work on any new file by giving it a name. The floor plan view window opens, ready for you to begin drawing. Home Designer Essentials includes a selection of template plans, each with different default settings that allow you to begin working in a particular plan style quickly.
The Create New Plan dialog displays next. If you have disabled the Startup Options at startup or already have the program open, you can select File> New Plan to open a new, blank plan. Select New Plan to open a new, blank plan. For more information, see Startup Options on page 18 of the Reference Manual. When Home Designer Essentials launches, the Getting Started window displays. Browse to Chief Architect> Home Designer Essentials 2015> Home Designer Essentials 2015, and click to start the program.
